POLITE SHIRT FOR 2008
Hi guys, this is the design for this year's POLITE shirt.
It cost 24bucks (with names). Those without names will be cheaper.
Top16 boys and top12 girls are compulsory to buy this shirt, whereas supporters may choose if they want it or not. For the top16 and top12 bowlers will have their names on the shirt.
The shirt is dry-fit with collar. We will order the shirt according to the size you have given us earlier this year. May there be any changes to the size, please let Qingling know by TOMORROW 14/9. Any order after tomorrow will not be entertained. For supporters, please let Qingling know if you're interested in getting the shirt by TOMORROW. yes everything all by TOMORROW. thanks :)

There will be changes to the training schedule with effect from next week.
We'll move to Yishun SAFRA for trainings. Check your email for the new training schedule please. No excuses such as "never read the mail", "never receive mail", "dont know that training schedule change" will be accepted. Do turn up for all trainings. I stress again, attendance is very important for Sept and Oct. If you really cannot make it for whichever day, do let your respective captains know why you cannot make it.

One more thing. POLITE shirts will be sent for making soon. We'll let you know the price soon.
All top16 boys and top12 girls will have their names on the shirt whereas all non top16 and non top12 bowlers who are going down as supporters will wear the same shirt without names.

POL-ITE 2008 (confirmed)

Venue : Yishun SAFRA
Date : 18 October, Saturday

We will arrange transport to the venue from school on the day itself. Will keep you all updated about this. Also, there will be drinks (H2O), banana and some food sponsored to bowlers by the school. Polite shirt design will be out soon.

One more thing, for those who are working during this holiday.. i advise you all not to miss too many training sessions. POL-ITE is coming so it will do you good if you attend all trainings. Kyle is very into the attendance for August and September. Those who missed 2 training sessions will have to see him. So do take note.

CONGRATULATIONS! Team Temasek won CHAMPION once again for the fourth year for the Collegiate League 2008!

Next week will be the Masters at Tampines Safra. Please make your way down to support if you're free. Also, our advisor Kyle had requested for a photographer from TP Visual Central to go down to take some pictures on the day. There will also be a buffet dinner at 6.30pm and the roll off is at 7.30pm. For bowlers who are bowling for next week's Masters, the school will be sponsoring the fee. But you have to pay for it first and we'll claim it from them after that.

Uncle Lawrence and Kyle wants me to congratulate the team on their behalf :)

Next week is the final week for this season's league and currently we're leading in the first place. :) But still... we wont know what will happen next week. SMU DOUBLES CHALLENGE 2008

Date : 12 July 2008
Venue: Orchid Bowl Safra Tampines
Time: 9.00am check-in, 9.30am rolloff

Entry Fee shall be S$50/- per team (Door gift, light snacks and refreshments included)
Also, we have discussed with our SAA advisor and he had promised to sponsor 50% of the registration fee for the top8 teams for Team Temasek bowlers. So top8 bowlers, please pass the receipt to Perry/QingLing and you will get back 50% of the payment you've made asap when the school give us the money.

Fantastic prizes, which will include a top prize of a pair of Contiki Bali Resort 3D/2N stay (excluding airfare) for each bowler, and also prizes from other kind sponsors. There will also be a perfect game award which will be confirmed on competition day itself.

Female bowlers are given a 10 pin handicap for each game bowled

COMPETITION / FORMAT OF PLAY
This is a Doubles event where each person shall play a 4-game series.

Step-Ladder Finals (Baker Format)
The top 8 teams after the 4-game series will qualify for the step-ladder finals bowling the Baker Format. The Baker format allows each member of a doubles team to follow each other in order, each bowling a complete frame until a complete (10-frame) game is bowled. In the event of a tie in the step-ladder finals, the teams shall each bowl a frame, the team with a higher score for the next frame shall be determined the winner. If this still ends in a tie, the next frame will be bowled and this will continue until the tie is broken.

Game 1:
Match 1
The 1st and 8th placed team shall play a one-game roll-off. The winner shall proceed to match 5.
Match 2
The 4d and 5h placed team shall play a one-game roll-off. The winner shall proceed to match 5.
Match 3
The 3d and 6h placed team shall play a one-game roll-off. The winner shall proceed to match 6.
Match 4
The 2nd and 7th placed team shall play a one-game roll-off. Winner shall proceed to match 6.

Game 2:
Match 5
The Winner of match 1 and match 2 shall play a one-game roll-off. The winner shall proceed to match 7.
Match 6
The Winner of match 3 and match 4 shall play a one-game roll-off. The winner shall proceed to match 7.
Game 3:
Match 7
The Winner of match 5 and match 6 shall play a one-game roll-off. The winner will win the competition.

There will be a meeting for all existing bowlers including the 8 new intakes on Wednesday 21 May 2008 @ 6.30pm. Venue will most probably be at SAA meeting room 4. Level 3. The booking of the meeting room is still in process but if there's any changes, we'll let you know but currently its room4.

Attendance is compulsory. All absentees will be treated as an automatic resignation of their membership with the training squad unless prior LOA is sought.

Also please check your email for attached Macro Training Program. Print it and bring it on wednesday. and and and.... bring $5 to pay for the new SAA training shirt.

One more thing. Those who are involved in the Collegiate League 2008 (you know who you are), please remember to bring $14 for the deposit on wednesday.

ATTENTION ALL TEAM TEMASEK BOWLERS AND FRESHIES


It has come to my attention that there has been disagreements over the selection process and the outcome of the trials. This entry will serve to clarify any queries that you may have over the selection.

Below are the averages for the POL-ITE games 2006 and 2007 Singles Event. Please take note of the averages for the top 8 positions for both boys and girls.

I would like to reiterate that the objective of the Team Temasek Bowling Team is to win the upcoming POL-ITE championships. Therefore as much as we can, we would need to select bowlers whose personal averages range from the above displayed tournament field averages in order to allow us to build and nurture a team to compete as one of the top teams in the championships.

I believe our coach has reinforced the aim of the program to all who attended the pre-selection forum - that the training program is a platform for competition preparation, not skills development.

However, a skills development training squad is currently under consideration by the committee and coaches to help those of you who did not manage to make the competition squad develop your skills further.

Here is some feedback provided by our coach, Uncle Lawrence.

"I wish to reiterate that this program is a platform for competitive preparation and not skill development training...I have said this and repeated several times at the presentation forum to all who were present

However I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate those that have been invited to join the training squad and also thank all those who have come for the trials.

If for any reason anyone who had expected to be invited and were not, being upset and disappointed are some very natural reactions but the challenge that now comes to you is 'what are you going to do about it?'. If the sport of tenpin bowling is your true passion, than may I suggest you start improving your game and bring it to the next level. There will be another selection trial opportunity next year which gives anyone a good lead time to prepare themselves."

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage those who did not make the team this year to train hard and improve yourselves. Feel free to approach any of the existing bowlers should you want any advice or help. The trials have allowed us to achieve a better understanding of your game and once the development squad is underway, it will give you guys a platform to improve.

So, I hope to see you guys come back next year as better and stronger bowlers. Train hard and never give up! All the best.

CCA RECRUITMENT DRIVE

Guys, the CCA Recruitment Drive is on the 23, 24 and 25th April which is school reopen week1 wed thurs and friday.
We need your help to run this CCA drive for our Ten-Pin Bowling. Those who can make it and are free, please go down to the booth and help out. We need MANPOWER!! I cant check every single one of your timetable to arrange roster for you all so please do come down to the booth when you are free. We'll have people coming and leaving for lectures so there must be at least 4 people at the booth at any point of time. I will update on where the booth is gonna be at and the time soon before wednesday.

Brief updates on upcoming events.

1. CCA RECRUITMENT DRIVE on 23,24,25th April.
2. Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 28th April. Attendance COMPULSORY.
